Plot
Narayan Shankar has been the principal of Gurukul, a prestigious boys' school, for 25 years. He firmly believes in tradition, honor, and discipline and is strictly opposed to any form of love affair, threatening to expel any student who falls in love. Raj Aryan soon joins Gurukul as a music teacher. Raj's ideas of spreading love anger Narayan so much that he ultimately decides to dismiss Raj. At this point, Raj reveals that he is actually Raj Malhotra, a former student of Gurukul who was expelled many years ago for falling in love with Narayan's only daughter, Megha. Megha committed suicide after Narayan expelled Raj. Raj, honoring Megha's memory, promises to spread love in the Gurukul, overriding Narayan's tradition, honor, and discipline, which Narayan accepts.
The backdrop of this conflict is three students—Sameer, Vicky, and Karan—all in love. Sameer is in love with his childhood sweetheart, Sanjana, who is already in a relationship with Deepak. Raj arranges for Sameer to work as a waiter at a cafe outside the Gurukul so he can be close to Sanjana. However, when Deepak mistreats Sanjana, she realizes Sameer is her true soulmate, and the two unite. Vicky is in love with Ishika, a student at a nearby girls' school. Although Ishika initially dislikes Vicky, they fall in love when they are paired together in a dance competition. However, Vicky lies about his family's social status to impress her. Eventually, he tells Ishika the truth, and she accepts him. Karan falls in love with a widow named Kiran; with Raj's help, he gets a job as a piano teacher for Kiran's nephew and gradually wins Kiran's affection, though Kiran initially keeps her distance.
Narayan realizes that Sameer, Vicky, and Karan are forcing the students to break the rules. In response, he decides to tighten the rules. However, Raj continues to provoke the boys into falling in love. Eventually, the three boys face the threat of expulsion from school because Narayan sees their actions as the reason for the other boys' rebellion. Raj speaks up on their behalf, explaining to Narayan that what they did was Raj's fault and begs Narayan not to expel them. Narayan agrees, but on the condition that Raj leave the school after telling the students that he misled them, giving him a sense of victory. However, Raj reminds Narayan of how his daughter left him and how Raj, who had looked up to Narayan, is now abandoning him as well. Reflecting on Raj's words, Narayan now realizes that his anti-love policies were wrong and even led to his own daughter's death. The next morning, Narayan publicly apologizes to his students and resigns as principal, asking Raj to take over and spread his belief in love to all students.
