Seeing Farah Khan's family members (Farah, Sajid, and Shirish) on posters is terrifying, as they've produced films like "Joker," "Humshakals," "Tees Maar Khan," and "Himmatwala," which were nothing short of torture for most people. They give such lengthy explanations that it's difficult to wrap their heads around. Despite this, Shah Rukh Khan, who had assaulted Farah's husband, put aside the bitterness and, keeping in mind the past hits "Main Hoon Na" and "Om Shanti Om," handed over the reins of a film worth approximately 150 crore rupees to Farah.

Farah depicted a major heist in her previous film, "Tees Maar Khan." Audiences didn't appreciate it, but Farah felt she was right, so she reinvented the story in "Happy New Year." Even in Bollywood, known for its herd mentality, many actors are obsessed with playing "thieves." Akshay Kumar (Tees Maar Khan), Aamir Khan (Dhoom 3), Hrithik Roshan (Bang Bang), and Salman Khan (Kick) have all managed to steal crores of rupees in a jiffy, so how could King Khan be left behind?

Chandramohan Sharma aka Charlie's (Shah Rukh Khan) father (Anupam Kher) was an expert in making safes. He builds a huge safe for Charan Grover (Jackie Shroff), named "Shalimar." Charan Grover conspires with Charlie's father, and he is imprisoned. Charlie wants to avenge his father. He wants to steal diamonds worth 300 crore rupees kept in Shalimar, which is stored 150 feet underground in Grover's Dubai hotel, Atlantis. Stealing these diamonds is not easy, as opening Shalimar is a difficult task. There are 110 million options for matching the numbers, which could take hundreds of years to complete. The door to where Shalimar is kept can only be opened with the thumbprint of Charan's son, Vicky (Abhishek Bachchan).

Charlie assembles a team consisting of Nandu (another Abhishek Bachchan), a chawl-dweller, Mohini (Deepika Padukone), a safe-cracking expert, Tammy (Boman Irani), a hacker, Rohan (Vivaan Shah), and an explosives expert, Jag (Sonu Sood). This team participates in a dance competition, under the guise of stealing diamonds.

Farah Khan's story is simple and weak, filled with numerous ifs and buts, but director Farah is confident that she will present the story on the big screen in such an entertaining way that audiences will forget all these ifs and buts. That's exactly what happens, but at times, the film challenges your reasoning so much that you're left wondering how it's all happening. The sheer speed with which the theft of diamonds worth 300 crore rupees is executed is unbelievable.

Charan Grover explains how the diamonds are being "protected" in a live press conference. This essentially invites thieves from around the world to come and steal them.

The climax reveals that Charlie's team needs a password, which the planning team didn't create. This system was created by Charlie's father eight years ago. Charlie discovers the password is seven words long and cracks it in a minute (it's a different story, but smart viewers crack it before Charlie does). Surprisingly, the creator of the system is in jail for theft, yet the password hasn't been changed in years.

Not only the "theft" episode, but also the dance competition track is illogical. Except for Mohini, everyone is a non-dancer, yet they are chosen as India's best dancers. The film doesn't explain how this selection is conducted, but it's not convincing. The idea of ​​Charlie's team going to Dubai to compete against world-class dancers in the World Dance Championship also seems ridiculous.

There's also a double role sequence. Vicky and Nandu look alike, so Nandu is kept hidden in a hotel by his teammates, but he often moves around and dances freely. Jag is shown to be deaf in one ear, but he always hears perfectly when he's working.

The film contains several illogical elements that may irritate viewers who bring their brains to the cinema. However, the good thing is that viewers who leave their brains at home and simply want entertainment are thoroughly entertained.

Farah Khan's direction is better than her writing. While she's taken considerable liberties in the name of cinema, she's kept the drama entertaining, which maintains the film's interest. She has introduced each actor in a spectacular way at the beginning of the film.

For almost an hour, the audience is introduced to all the actors. Each character has their own unique story and unique personality. Each character's introduction is hilarious. For example, if someone says something bad to Jag's mother, smoke starts coming out of his ears and he beats up the person who said it. Let's laugh at that, but Nandu's introduction is more disgusting than amusing, as he vomits at random times and is shown vomiting several times throughout the film.

The first half of the film is fun and full of humor.
