Mahesh Bhatt's innocence was so beautifully captured on the silver screen through music that viewers were mesmerized. Gulshan Kumar was the producer of "Aashiqui," and Mahesh Bhatt was the director. Both bet on newcomers Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. But the gamble proved wise; the musical's success quickly earned Rahul the title of romantic hero and lover boy. No one would have imagined that a modeling boy would become a superstar with his first film. When Rahul Roy was seen singing "Bas Ek Sanam Chahiye Aashiqui Ke Liye" and "Nazar Ke Samne Jigar Ke Paas" with Anu Aggarwal on the silver screen, many viewers were so mesmerized that they flocked to theaters for days. After "Aashiqui," he starred in films like "Phir Teri Yaad Aayi," "Jaanam," and "Sapne Sajan Ke," but none of them were successful. Rahul Roy faded into obscurity. A similar fate befell the film's actress, Anu Aggarwal. In addition to Rahul and Anu, the film also starred Deepak Tijori, along with seasoned actors like Reema Lagoo, Tom Alter, and Ang Desai.


With music by Nadeem and Shravan, every song in "Aashiqui" is heart-touching. Due to its mesmerizing music, the film won all four Filmfare Awards in the music category. It was honored with Best Music, Best Playback Singer (Male and Female), and Best Lyricist.
